HENSOL CASTLE DISTILLERY
Hensol Castle Distillery is the UK’s only spirits distillery located in a 17th century castle and surrounded by 650 acres of stunning countryside.
You’ll find us just outside Cardiff, offering a full scale gin distillery, visitor experience, gin school and bottling plant. The combination of the historical Hensol Castle together with the modern vibes and fun nature of gin, creates a truly distinctive experience, so no matter how far you’ve travelled you’re sure to have a great time.
We were originally due to launch in March 2020, but official opening plans were scuppered when the pandemic hit. Despite this set back, we soldiered on with pre-selling tours and gin in anticipation of the opening which finally happened in September 2021.
In the short space of time since opening we are proud to have had over 100 5* Trip Advisor reviews earning us their Travellers Choice award for 2022.
We believe we have created something truly special, that gives an even more compelling reason for visitors to come to visit south Wales. It’s been a real labour of love to breathe new life back into the old castle walls and convert it into a unique tourist attraction.
It gives us a really sense of pride when we see visitors enjoying what we have created.
Your group will be treated to a story-filled guided journey of the distillery learning all about the history of Hensol Castle, the origins of gin, the wonders of botanicals and our distilling process, but always making sure there’s still plenty of time left for the all important gin tasting!
Our premium, award winning Hensol Castle range includes a Welsh Dry, Wild Strawberry & Hibiscus and a Blood Orange.
Wherever possible, we use local ingredients and botanicals as provenance is key in creating our quality gins with water used from our own estate.
At the end of the tour your group can relax and enjoy a refreshing gin and tonic in our cosy gin bar. They can take their time and browse the well stocked gift shop and maybe take home a momento of their visit.
Whether it’s a bottle of our award winning gin, a copper measure, spoon, straw set or set of glasses there is something to suit everyone.
