York Christmas Festival

The York Christmas Festival is one of the key events in the city centre calendar, and the hugely popular St Nicholas Fair is returning in 2021 from 18 Nov – 23 Dec. This is a Christmas experience that produces magical memories that will never be forgotten, and has people returning to the city time and time again. The best way to start Christmas is with a stroll along Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square, both hosting wintry alpine chalets. Each chalet is stocked with unique products selling everything from stocking fillers and extra special gifts, to delicious tasty treats. Visitors to the market an enjoy a bite to eat or sip on some warming mulled wine in the cheery, buzzing atmosphere.
York’s attractions are getting ready for the festivities with plans at York Minster to put on the carol concert programme, as well as traditional services and screenings of the Snowman. Barley Hall will be decorated in medieval festive style, and putting on their Three King exhibition, exploring how magic infiltrated Christmas in the medieval period. Treasurer’s House will also be transformed, with twinkling lights and glittering decorations, where you can soak up the festive atmosphere of a traditional Christmas.
Visitors can get a different view of the Christmassy city by taking to the Ouse with City Cruises. Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland, complete with the Ice Factor, returns to York Designer Outlet. And for those who want to take a break from Christmas shopping, Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience allows you to sit back and soak up the works of the master painter. All this, and much more, is on offer in York over the Christmas Period.

Christmas in York coach booking system
For coach bookings we will operate the normal weekend VIP booking system with pre-booked dedicated Christmas Festival parking over the Saturdays and Sundays during the festival. (18 Nov - 23 Dec).
Prebooking via Eventbrite is now live for the Saturday and Sunday slots at Union Terrace @ £60+ VAT per day. For week day bookings the normal tariff will apply of £14 per coach for the day.
