At Plantasia Tropical Zoo - located just 15 minutes (7.9 miles) from the M4 - we have been delivering fantastical experiences for families, schools and groups since 1990. Set in the Parc Tawe complex at the heart of Swansea, you can’t miss our striking giant glass pyramid hot house as you enter the city.
On arrival, you will find ample 2 hour complimentary parking for cars and coaches next to our attraction, and by entering your vehicle registration at reception, we can extend your free parking to a 4 hour stay.
You can choose whether your guests will be left free to roam and explore our tropical zoo; or partake in a guided tour where they will learn about the origins of our plants and animals, and any conservation issues that affect them in their natural habitat. Our knowledgeable team will be able to answer any questions that may arise.
Whilst exploring the zoo your guests will find over 40 different species from the red knee tarantula in the underground zone; to the Burmese python, and critically endangered free-roaming Edwards pheasant’s on the forest floor zone; meerkats and critically endangered Egyptian tortoise in the arid zone; marmosets and a green-winged macaw high up in the canopy; and the Caiman crocodiles at Fort Crox to name but a few.
Travel through our zones on a fully accessible winding path with a gentle climb and descent that takes you through a living rainforest filled with giant tropical plants and a magical waterfall lookout for the perfect panoramic view across the attraction.
Dotted throughout the journey are numerous informational signs and several fun interactive elements to enjoy.
High up in the canopy, your guests will enter our tropical treehouse exhibition area. 2023’s exhibition is a celebration of 200 years of the forgotten evolutionist Alfred Russel Wallace, developed in partnership with Museum Wales.
Whichever option selected, your guests will end their day with an animal handling session in our education room, where they will be introduced to a range of rainforest creatures from the incredible crested gecko that can stick to walls; a giant African millipede that clings to you like Velcro; a giant African land snail; the American green tree frog; a bearded dragon called Kong; and a corn snake called Lasagne!
On site, our well-stocked, colourful gift shop and Canopy café provide a welcoming rest break, serving a great choice of hot meals, snacks and drinks. Should you wish to host a meal with us, our team can provide our menu for advanced ordering, or work with you to provide a dedicated offering for your guests.
