Our staff will build the visit around your needs – whether you come during the day or in the early evening when we are closed to the public.
Visit the Museum at your own pace, book a guided tour or an illustrated talk in our Pump Room. Then venture underground into Temple Mine on a guided tour. Our collection, spanning history from the Anglo-Saxons through to the 1980s, tells the story of the mining and miners in the Peak District. Artefacts include an 1819 water pressure engine, a world class mineral collection, the miners’ personal items allowing us to cover the industrial and social history of the area. We also house the Matlock Bath Through Time exhibition and can provide guided tours around the village.
Guided tours of the surface remains of Magpie Mine near Bakewell can also be arranged through the Museum.
